WelcomeAbout ▸ Dave

My friends and I provide consulting, custom development and integration services inline with our mission. Wherever feasible, we use Apple and Palo Alto hardware and software solutions, and we emphasize open technical standards. Throughout 31 years of refining our professional practice, our accomplishments span almost every major industry, and our accumulated technical "toolbox" is comprehensive, ranging from embedded systems software to z/OS solutions.

I would appreciate an opportunity to lead your next IT project, from initial planning through to final retrospective. After only a brief initial consultation, you might even be better informed. Get in touch, and let's make a plan. 🔒 or call 352-505-7885 to speak directly with Dave.

I was born in 1973 in Westmoreland, Jamaica. My earliest memory and strongest motivation was a desire to understand and fly aircraft. With the help of family and friends, I accomplished that goal by age seventeen (17). Up to that time, I had planned for a parallel career by formally studying computer hardware, systems analysis, programming and data processing systems—completing diplomas at the Institute of Management and Production. As an insatiable learner, I thrilled to create systems and solve new problems with synthesized knowledge. It was not sufficient to simply acquire facts. This kind of driven personality may help you understand why a “normal” job would seriously frustrate me.

So for the next 7 years, I worked as an independent IT contractor and consultant for prominent companies—implementing, securing and supporting (then) new kinds of business Wide-Area Networks—linking up to thousands of users. I was privileged to work with scientists, engineers, accountants, and other professionals—all of whom expressed satisfaction with my work. Partly because of my work to enable real-time financial information flow, one NYSE company claims to have saved hundreds of thousands of (U.S.) dollars per day.

In 1997, I moved to Florida to pursue an interdisciplinary aerospace degree called “Engineering Science.” After finishing an Associates Degree in Engineering, I worked at the University of Florida (UF), proofreading and reviewing multimedia content for final publishing. I co-authored “B.S. and M.S. Online Degrees Using a Lectures on Demand Approach,” which was presented at the IEEE; my work is also credited in various books and papers, including “Computer Communications and the Internet” (Latchman), and “Linear Control Systems—A First Course” (Latchman). I am deeply grateful to Dr. H. A. Latchman for his contributions to the insights I developed at UF.

After closely observing the academic community (and being disgruntled with the cancellation of Engineering Science program), I decided that more years pursuing higher education would generally waste my time. Today I run my own IT lab, designed to develop and test various electrical engineering technologies. While trying to solve a common problem, I designed a revolutionary information system. In my spare time, I continue researching and describing it further, towards seeking funding and patent(s).

I’ve now developed a penchant for helping smaller companies (fewer than 200 employees) maximize Returns on Investment. Small business owners seem to struggle with technology decisions, and too often are uninformed about bottom-line impact of technology choices. When technology is planned and executed appropriately, small companies do not need onsite employees for technical support. For that matter, they don’t need onsite employees ;-)
